P is for.......   A Pretty Cocktail!  Only joking....this is of course the Perfect Lady!   I think I bought peach liqueur just to make this over and over again!  You can also switch out the foamer to something you prefer to use - I like using egg white as it makes it lovely and rich, but if you are vegan you can use alternatives. O is for.......   Continuing with my alphabet of cocktails I'm starting to get to the more difficult letters so I may need a little help with suggestions soon!   I'd intended to make something else for the letter O but didn't have grapefruit juice, so had to head to Difford's again and found this little gem from Harry Craddock's  Savoy Cocktail Book.   It's a summery number and I suspect you could lengthen this with soda or even a little fizz if you aren't into strong cocktails. Personally I enjoyed this one as it was! N is for .......   The Nixon🥃   This cocktail was created by bartender, Joe Gilmore who was the Head Barman at the American Bar at the Savoy, based in London. Joe created the Nixon cocktail to celebrate the 1969 visit of President Richard Nixon to Britain. HOLI NEGRONI If you ever wondered what makes Jaisalmer Gold Gin different from their original, it's in the name! As well as including some special botanicals, this gin is distilled and then enhanced by gold filtration. This involves the gin passing through golden silk filament, which is said to enrich the gin and add to its smoothness and balance! L is for......   Lucien Gaudin ..... a cocktail named after a French Olympic fencer who competed in the early 20th century.   Those who made the Killer in Red will note that the ingredients are the same, but the ratios differ and the gin is much more dominant in this than a normal negroni.  I had the aged gin out, so I made this with a vermouth barrel aged gin and I really pushed the boat out and I dug out my prized Campari Cask Tales and used this as well.   Campari Cask Tales is a special edition, created to honour the 150th birthday of founder Davide Campari, and it was aged in bourbon barrels, which rounded the edges off the bitterness and added subtle layers of vanilla and delicate smoke.  It's rather delicious on its own but probably impossible to now find, so I shall cherish this little treasure!   The recipe.......   Lucien Gaudin 40ml Gin 20ml Cointreau 20ml Campari 20ml Dry Vermouth     On a side note - yes, I did the unforgiveable cubes in coupes!  I thought I was clever and did a good job of balancing the orange slice on the ice, took a single snap and then changed my mind.  Dropped the orange in the drink, tried to retrieve it, then tried to take the ice out - ice slipped in my hand and the drink splashed everywhere.  So like it or lump it, this is the only photo of it so please just admire my excellent balancing skills!   😬🙄         #cocktailswithfriends #homeentertaining #easycocktails #basiccocktails #drinkstagram #gin #campari #luciengaudin #cocktails #drinksofinstagram #thirsty #drinksphotography #cocktailart #springtime #alphabet #gingingin #imbibegram #imbibe #homemixology #cubesincoupes #unforgiveable #bts #reality

K is for .......   There seems to be a little theme going on here with all the Campari cocktails, but I was looking for cocktails that I'd not tried or made yet.  I also had to switch up a bit as although I planned this all weeks ago, I now find myself without grapefruit juice in the fridge!   So here we have Killer in Red, a cocktail which launched the Campari Red Diaries in 2017.  It's almost but not a negroni and I did play about with the recipe a little as well! This is a sample given to me when I visited Cuckoostone Distillery last year and tonight it matched my mood (only joking😆). The gin is inspired by dark Derbyshire history and is a nod to the Eyam Plague Museum in the Peak District. It gets the dark colour from butterfly pea flowers, mallow flowers, and hibiscus, and includes lemon, ginger, and meadowsweet among the botanicals. WORLD GIN AWARDS 2024 It's hard to be believe I've had the honour of being part of the judging panel for the World Gin Awards for 3 years - it's a tough job, but someone has to do it! There are some popular brands on the market but I infuse butterfly pea flowers to make my own! It's a bit gimmicky really but can make some stunning cocktails and my favourite, an Aviation. The white rhino's name is taken from the Afrikaans word for wide (weit) and describes its mouth! Rhinos can run at speeds of 30-40 miles per hour! Don't try to outrun them! IT'S TIME! 🎃 It's the perfect time of year for a Corpse Reviver, and to be different, a Parmesan crisp garnish.  For this creation I used @audemus_spirits Umami Gin, a rather whacky sounding creation which is absolutely delicious!  It includes combinations of distillates of hand-picked capers, parmesan cheese, bergamot and of course juniper and it gains a unique flavour from being rested in cognac barrels for several months. TO FIG WITH IT 🍃 If you follow my #figwatch stories you will know that I am hoping with all my might that my second crop may just ripen before winter sets in! Unfortunately it's more than likely I'll need to preserve the green figs but I'm ready for that!  I may also make another batch of fig leaf liqueur before the leaves fall off, as I'm almost out of last year's batch, which I've used in this super easy cocktail.  Aside from gin, I do love bourbon and so although I'm cheating on gin a little, I think once in a while that is allowed! So here's the recipe for the perfect Friday cocktail - so good you will probably want to make a double batch!  It is Friday after all!   50ml Bourbon 25ml Fig Leaf Liqueur 25ml Lemon Juice - about half a lemon - strained Honey syrup to taste - depends on the sweetness of your fig leaf liqueur Stir all ingredients on ice until cold and pour into a pretty cocktail glass.  Optional garnish of a preserved baby fig and the smallest fig leaf I could find on my tree!
