Sixth Day of Countdown

Not quite Five Gold Rings, but I think a White Negroni with a little edible gold glitter comes pretty close!

I've paired it with five meringues (since eaten), because obviously when you're drinking Air, what else would you nibble on?

I'll get my coat...!

Mum puns really are the worst. 😉

For the Fifth Day of Christmas, I’m celebrating with 5th Black Air Gin — a Spanish London Dry Gin, and the foundation for their Earth, Fire and Water gins.

This is a really interesting gin. It's juniper-forward, slightly aromatic and has a distinctive coastal character, which means it can absolutely hold its own in a Negroni. Reading up on the botanicals, I discovered they include oceanic algae, which suddenly explains that lovely seaside note!

I also tried it with a Mediterranean Tonic, which creates a slightly sweeter, more aromatic G&T and would definitely appeal to those who prefer a less bitter serve.

Black Air is produced by Sorel Destileries del Maresme (DMB), based near Barcelona and established in 1875. Now in its third generation of distilling, the family produces a range of spirits, including the Atmosphera portfolio, which features the 5th Gin range.

A Negroni felt like the perfect choice here, as vermouth is such an important part of drinking culture in the region — it had to make an appearance!

I'm actually loving this gin a little more than I expected. I had no idea it would fit so perfectly with my love of coastal gins, so if that's your thing too, this one is definitely worth seeking out.
