CHRISTMAS 2021 - COUNTDOWN
Merry Christmas and welcome to the Twelve Squares of Ginmas!
Every year I set myself a little festive challenge. In the past I've matched the Twelve Days of Christmas with gin brands and cocktails, but this year I've decided to think a little differently.
What's Christmas without a countdown? So this year, that's exactly what I've gone with. The challenge was to find a gin brand for every number from one to twelve. It sounded simple enough... until I actually started! Some were easy, some took a bit of digging, and a few sent me down some wonderfully unexpected rabbit holes.
So, pour yourself something festive, settle in, and join me as I count down from one to twelve—one gin, one story and one day at a time.
What better place to start than London No.1 Blue Gin, which, rather fittingly, is crafted with 12 botanicals: cinnamon, orange peel, angelica root, almond, savory, iris root, juniper, bergamot, liquorice, lemon peel, coriander and cassia.
I've kept things simple with a classic martini and a side of poached mulled pears... well, I had to squeeze in the Partridge in a Pear Tree somehow!
