CHRISTMAS 2019 - THE 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS SONG
On the Fourth Day of Christmas.... ๐ถ
As the song goes, today my true love gave to me four calling birds... However, over the centuries, some of the words have changed, and it's thought the original was “colly birds” — with colly meaning black. Hence, a little inspiration for today's cocktail!
An obvious choice would have been an Espresso Martini, but I've gone for something a little different and played around with a Negroni / Gin Sour riff instead.
It did need a little help with the colour, but I'm sure I'll be forgiven just this once... After all, it is Christmas! ๐
FOUR CALLING BIRDS ๐ฆโฌ
40ml Renegade Gin
15ml Sedgwick's Old Brown Sherry
10ml Amaro Montenegro
Lemon juice
Egg white
A dash of black food colouring
Shake everything well, first without ice to emulsify the egg white, then again with ice. Strain into a glass and enjoy your very black Christmas creation! ๐ค
