CHRISTMAS 2020 - THE LOCKDOWN GINMAS
Merry Christmas and welcome to another Twelve Squares of Ginmas!
This particular Ginmas took place during the strange Christmas of 2020, when many of us found ourselves with a little more time on our hands and far fewer places to go. It seemed like the perfect excuse to explore gin, uncover stories and get creative with cocktails.
Looking back, it was still the early days of my gin journey — with plenty of enthusiasm, a growing thirst for research and some very amateur photography! But everything has to start somewhere, so let's embrace the early experiments and see where this festive countdown began.
Over the years I've matched the Twelve Days of Christmas with gin brands and cocktails, explored Christmas traditions and even counted my way through a few numbered gins. This was one of the early Ginmas challenges, but it still needed plenty of creativity, curiosity and, of course, plenty of gin!
So, pour yourself something festive, settle in, and join me for a look back at the stories, discoveries and cocktails that started it all.
Cheers! πΈπ
On the First Day of Christmas....
No partridges here today, but I do have a pear connection!
I've paired Copperfield Gin Volume 1 with a gently heated alcohol-free pear cider for a festive twist. The warmth of the cider brings out the softer notes of the gin, creating a cosy winter serve without being too heavy.
Sometimes it's nice to have something a little different from the usual G&T, especially when the weather is calling for something warming and comforting.
A simple serve, but one that feels very fitting for the start of this year's Ginmas countdown!
