ROMANIAN GIN, Romania
A ROAD TRIP WHERE EVERY STOP HAS A STORY
Romania’s craft-gin scene is still a stop on the Gin Passport waiting to be properly explored, but there are already some names worth putting on the radar and that I would love to get my hands on. In particular, these three!
Wolfpack, from Măgura Zamfirei Distillery, is one of the country’s most decorated gins, with its Dry Gin No.4 and colour-changing Moonlight Gin picking up international awards.
Kaspers, made in Saschiz, takes a rather unusual route, beginning with fermented elderflower before the botanicals are added and the spirit is distilled again.

And more recently there’s Zen Gin from Gin Religion in Măgurele, which won Romania’s Country Winner and Gold in the Contemporary Style Gin category at the 2026 World Gin Awards.
Three very different reasons to put Romania on my gin map — and definitely a country I need to investigate properly.
